Solar Probe Plus Project Scientist Nicky Fox, of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), was featured in a Discovery Channel Facebook Live event on Feb. 8, 2017. The program is available here.

Speaking from just outside the APL cleanroom where the Solar Probe Plus is being built and tested, Fox offered an overview of the mission and spacecraft, and took several questions from the Facebook audience. Launching in 2018, Solar Probe Plus will dive to within 4 million miles of the sun's surface, facing heat and radiation like no spacecraft before it – and providing new data on solar activity that will be critical to our ability to forecast major space-weather events that impact life on Earth.

The event was a preview of "Dark Side of the Sun," an hour-long program featuring Solar Probe Plus and other studies of the Sun currently airing on Discovery and the Science Channel.
